Description

This TP-51C of the Collings Foundation Wings of Freedom Tour is taxiing for takeoff at the Glendale, Arizona airport. This TP-51C is the world's only dual control P-51C. It has a Rolls Royce Merlin Packard-built engine. A 1/2 hr ride costs $2200. A view of the P-51s that came off the production line were modified to two-seaters and were used as highspeed transports for VIP! This picture was taken on 22 April 2009. Thank you for viewing and commenting and favs, Sig...

I wish I was close by and had $2200 dollars spare Sig, it would be fantastic to go up in that for an half hour. I would most probably forget to point the camera and press the shutter release. Superb capture. Bravo!!!!!!

Nice shot, note the non-standard Spitfire mirror (some Mustangs sprouted two). I'll be checking these guys (Collings B-24, B-17 and P-51) out in Concord, CA in June . . . again. I believe the two 8th Air Force two-seaters were field modified "war-weary" B's that were pulled from the line and modified for high speed transports/hacks. The factory dual control TP's were, I believe, all modified D models.
