Description

A rose from my backyard, my Mom planted the rosebush some 30 years ago. It’s been with me for 24 years and has 1 rose and 15 rosebuds as we speak. The think about this rosebush is that it spent most of its life planted in the wrong place under trees where it couldn’t find the sun. It struggled for many years to survive in some very adverse conditions. I didn’t know it needed full sun or I would have moved it. I just left it there occasionally watering it and in spite of me it would produce a hand full of roses each year and me thinking that each year would be its last because it is old, hmmmmmm. I had to have some work done in the yard and a backhoe dug it up, it was gone, RIP. Sadly it was the last remaining rosebush that I had gotten from my Mom and I should have taken the time to move it before the workers came, oh well it was old and going to die anyway, hmmmmmmm. About two or three weeks later in a dirt pill they had left me from the repairs, a small peace of the rose stock had came up out of the dirt, ITS ALIVE!!! So I dug it up and made a new home for it in the sun, full sun put a few plants around it to keep it company watered it religiously, yep; to ease my guilt after all it was from my Mom; low and behold it lived. Today this grand old lady is standing in all her glory with the first rose of the year just opening on Mothers day and 15 more in waiting. It just goes to so you that just because you’re getting old don’t mean you’re done; no sir not just yet, LOL. Thank you so much for stopping by and for any comments you care to leave! PS. I take much better care of the bush these days and I think she’s a whole lot happier in her new home; ………………I’m rally not crazy it just seemed to be a fun way to say it, smile.

What a grand story. And now a perpetual reminder of your mom! Rose bushes are hardy...I have seven that do great in spite of me. Oh, and mine have full sun and a southerly exposure.

A very tender story, Royce. And a wonderful tribute to your mom who, I know personally, was a person of beauty just like this rose!

That was a very touching story. An amazing old rose, I never imagined a rose can live so long. Pay attention to it. It has a message for you. Your Mother is trying to remind you about something she taught you which you have forgoton.

Half way through your story, I about lost it, and cried! To think that such a precious gift from your mom was gone! Then......waaalaaa.....It's ALIVE and flurishing!!!!! Thank Goodness! SO, SO Beautiful! You know why it survived don't ya? Cause it's your moms rose bush! That's why it had it's first bloom on "Mothers Day"!! Absolutly Fantabulous Shot! Thank you so much for sharing your story, and Rose with us! (((hugs)))

Well I guess Mom was looking down on you and the back hoe boys, letting them dig it up but not destroying it completely. I have to admit there are some things out there that cannot be sneezed at. I'm sure Mom is still lokking down on that rose. A very touching story and a wonderful image. Bravo!!!!!
