Description

The empty tomb... Oil on canvas 30x40" Well we're finally finished with this work in progress , sorry it took so long !! Been fighting with some difficult circumstances lately. By the way I want to apologize to all of you for hijacking and tainting our fun thread we had going here , I sincerely apologize to all of you for my rantings!!!!!!! As to the painting process , I darkened the painting here and there with a glaze of raw umber and medium, trying to get a better balance between the lights and darks . Then painted the centurion and made some adjustments to Christ's face ,lastly I added the greenery to the foreground corners, keeping it slightly out of focus, so as not to detract from the central point of focus! Oh yeah ... re-painted the INRI at the sword tip.... FINISH!!! Thank you all for following along with me and your gracious comments!!!!!!!!!! On another note : Vintorix musta sold the stained glass window .... as it's missing from his gallery ;) tom p.s. I noticed that Artwithin and ARTWITHIN II are both missing from here and there gallerys seem to be gone ... Any one know why?? They will be missed by me as well as by many others I'm sure!!!! They were both kind and sensitive Artist's .... hope they are ok!!!

Beautiful work! The colors are alive and the painting tells the story so well. Whatever others may chose to say about Jesus, it can not be denied that there was something about him that touched others deeply and moved them to not only keep the memory of him and his teachings alive but also to strive to be like him, even in the face of some of the worse things other humans would do to them in their efforts to stamp out their faith. I hope and pray that you too can find such strength to face and wrestle to overcome whatever adversities or demons you may face.

Well when I see the painting in the finished form I am ashamed that I thought it finished before!. The soldier is now quite muscular and the face more detailed, more heroic in some way, like he has begun to see the truth. The Lorica segmentata is more historical correct, the plants is greener, -sigh, the life as an artist is ardent and laborious! Regarding Artwithin check the thread, "I will be out for an undetermined time" in the 2D forum. gunsan, november22, artwithin, All gone, missing from the 2D forum, I am glad Tim is here as the bastion of stability! I myself will not post to my gallery for a while because I have some massive relearning to do. But I will soon be back! The most exiting thing, what we all are waiting for is, "What will be Tim's next artwork?" ? That my ladies and gentlemen, that is the question! (now I have to change, so the latest version is my favorite! :)

Wonderful job Tom. Do I sense a bit of relief? This has been a weighty subject. I have no idea what internal tugs of war you may experience while painting this subject. I am convinced that the evil one attacks those whom he feels he is losing control of... Think on Ephesians 6;12: "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." We mere mortals don't have the power to fight these forces but in Christ we overcome without fail! Hooray. Great job. Sleep well tonight knowing you've brought great credit to His name.

Beautiful finished painting, especially Christ's face, filled with knowledge of the internal suffering the soldier will endure and his forgiveness to said soldier...well done!!!!! (Or did i read to much into it?)

it is wonderful, i'm so surprised by all the little changes in this final, these additions worked quite fantastic! bravo on finishing another thoughtful and beautiful painting, and thanks also for sharing the process, it was really exciting! about artwithin, she said everything in her thread in the 2D Forum, as vintorix mentioned. a job like suzanne did, managing a Forum can lead into burn out like each other job as well, and so, she takes some time off, hope she will be fine soon again :)

Wonderful and inspiring image. I have seen growing every day and I couldnĀ“t imagine would become as nice as in the final version, thinking the previous was finished, but now is very much better. There is a nice spirit inside and I can see the light shining from christ and going through all the painting. Masterwork! 1000 stars
