Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

We have nothing this colour in the wild here. He looks as though he is saying something, he needs a speech bubble!

Another super photo.
timtripp
excellent!

much better! Nailed the tail feathers for sure. I think the art of taking bird pic's (He said, guessing!), is getting them side on or, face on! unlike aircraft, where the shot like 'Old Crow' is best! You need to crop or zoom so close, the smallest mistake and that's blown the picture! He said.......! Not actually knowing anything! But a great shot and i love the bird! Rob.

Great shot, you got him good. Man-oh-man does that bird have an attitude or what? Looks like he's saying, "Hey dude, all you have here is seed, why don't you throw in a worm or two." I am the star of your picture and expect to be treated as such. Cheers SB

WOW! An excellent photo.

Yes! That's just what I was talking about, with the red. Look at the focus on the tailfeathers, compare them to the detail on the edge of the bowl, the seeds ... see how some of that difference is attributable to dof? But the brilliant red looks totally different. By all rights, the body of the bird should be in as sharp a focus as the tailfeathers, or at least only slightly "blurred" by the shallow dof. But no! That color ... yikes! I'm totally impressed that you got as much detail as you did in his breast feathers. This is great!

OMG! it's an amazing, stunning and terrific capture!!!!!!!!!!!Maybe the tail is a V for Victory? ;D)

Beautiful bird, such a beautiful colour.

Very nicely done, great detail on the tail feathers. With a head on pov like that, you have to make a choice where to focus, head or tail. :) If he was chirping and talking while eating, he may have been calling out to his mate to come join him, hence the posture, or if it was windy, simply a matter of regaining his balance. :)

beautiful creature and lovely image..!!!

Great Pose Bill as Maria says tough call often re focus but the detail and colour are perfect

Stellar composition, focus, detail and fantastic red colors in this exquisite capture, Bill! Love those tail feathers! This shot confirms everything I've always wondered about the species....they do wear a mask and a bushy beard!

Beautifully done

Gorgeous isn't he and what a great capture with his tail spread. I think it means that he is happy to be having a great feast.

A superb moment!
mermaid
so many different tones of red and you cought him in an interesting pose... our woodpecker here does a similar one, before entering the food arena together with a loud chirping anouncing his presence and anouncing that it's his place now, maybe it's the same with this beautiful one
Erestorfan
No, I don't know what the tail position means...but it is an AWESOME picture!! Nice!!!
