(Jan. 2008) Hello everyone and thanks for visiting my page. My name is Tom, and I've been interested in art and sketch drawing as a hobby for as long as I can remember, although never very seriously. In mid 2007 I started using Poser 6 and Photoshop Elements, and have been 'hooked' on '3D' art ever since. I'm still learning to use various 3D modeling programs to try and develop some digital art skills. I enjoy getting feedback from other artists on what to work on and how to improve.
(Feb. 2009) The submarine I've attempted to animate is from an old TV show in the 1960s called 'Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea'. Although the show was kind of cheesy, I remember watching it after school along with old episodes of Star Trek.

Good work on your first render with DAZ! It's a great time to start with DAZ Studio because DAZ Studio is beginning to drift away from Poser since its well supported by DAZ 3D. DAZ Studio can read Poser figures, poser scenes, and use light setups; but in my experience DAZ Studio has its own shaders, lights, and other technologies that is setting it apart from Poser. For instance, the biggest difference between Poser and DAZ Studio is how they implement Dynamic Cloth right now. It was such a complete departure that many Poser users are jealous of what DAZ Studio's dynamic cloth is capable of doing. Another difference is that Poser Magnets are converted into D-formers in DAZ Studio. Other than that. . . Using DAZ Studio can be harrying for the Poser user, but if you work with it you can achieve the same results. It took me a while to learn the program, and I'm still learning how lighting works in it. But you can work at learning it. The important thing to know how to use DAZ Studio is to look up Greywulf's blog over at http://blog.microlite20.net Go over the tutorials he has in using DAZ Studio. And you can learn them in great detail.

You sir are a very class act! You upload very beautiful artwork and, you thank us for taking the time to look at it. Well I for one want to thank you for sharing your work. When I finally get my new computer, get the hang of Poser 7, AND get up the courage to submit a render to Renderosity; I hope I'll have the nerve to follow your example. Thanks for everything.

Daz is starting to look good! I downloaded it a few years ago opened it up and thought hmmm.I dont have time 4 this now (learning). and never looked back! I was still tryin to get better with poser But I would like to work with there new dynamic cloth engine!! Any way Your image looks very good Its hard to tell its your first attempt with daz! Lets see what you can do next!!

Fabulous first work in D/S Tom! I felt pretty much the same when I tried Poser for the first time. DAZ Studio has certainly made some great strides in the last couple of years and I still think it's interface is easier and more user friendly than Poser's - though that may just be me, cause I'm used to it :) Try out the UberEnvironment lights and shaders - you can add regular lights for effect. The new dynamic clothes are definitely worth a closer look as well.

D|S? lol, it ain't really free. Mine has run up a bill of about $250 in plugins alone. I'll send you my "must have" list and let you decide. Though I'm not a user of many other apps I can tell you that the materials in Studio need more tweaking than in most other apps. Neat render! Really cute pose.
Minda
wow! tom your work is amazing, terrific lighting...and great scene!!

Wow magickal Tom!

Great job! DAZ|Studio is a good alternate to Poser, but there are some features, that I'm missing, specially some lightoptions. For example, you can't give your light a texture or volume; or you can't get a shadow on the ground without a groundplane. That's what I'm missing most. I've read that there is a material room in progress, I hope, it could be the answer :)

Splendid pose and light FX ! Excellent image !
