Description

Badgers the symbol of Wisconsin and the University of Wisconsin Madison. The badger became the symbol for the state of Wisconsin in it's territorial days ( about 1836) The badeger became the symbol for the University of Wisconsin in 1882 according to the Wisconsin Magazine March 1913 Vol. 1 Badgers live up to 26 years. They are burrowing animals and can dig very fast. They have been known to burrow though 2 inches of concrete. If you look at the picture they have very sharp claws. They are solitary animals and in the wild can be quite mean. Besides you don't want to run into a badger in the dark! For a long time they were thought to hibernate, however it was found that they just live under ground to stay warm and will eat most small animals. The tunnels have been noted to be up to 10 km long. Whoa! that is one long tunnel. I give you the badger. As far as the title is concerned. It's actually a twisted line from a movie "Badges, we don't need no stinking badges" I think it was Blazing Saddles

Never disturb or upset a badger!!!! The males are very territorial and the females are like PMS on steroids, and these critters can run like you wouldn't believe!!!! Set a pack of dogs on one of these guys, and I'm betting on the badger. The line " Badgers?....we don't need no stinkin Badgers"!!, came from the movie UHF, which, if you haven't seen it, comes highly recommended! Stars weird Al Yankovich, in fact, this was where Kramer from Seinfeld. got his start. Sorry Baby, for getting carried away.....you know how I am about trivia stuff. As far as this particular Badger is concerned, I'm pretty sure it is tired. I wore a musky type cologne, on Mothers day....for Cheri. It wasn't until we encountered this one, that I realized that musky type cologne can drive a Badger wild with lust,..that and being spring and all, which gets back to how I know they can run like you wouldn't believe!!!

The original was "Treasure of Sierra Madre" and "Blazing Saddles" only copied the line. Excellent capture.

He does look shattered, perhaps he's been digging all day. He does look big and mean though I don't think I would want to argue with him, long claws and I bet he's got sharp teeth too!

This is great. I wouldn't wanna get too close to this guy, but I have to admit that he has a certain cuteness-factor thing going, but I think that's also because he couldn't care less about anything more than badger concerns. I love the predominance of earth tones, but what sticks out the most is the fact that he's so incredibly flat and wide! Great shot!
