Description

I normally don't like to post second versions so similar to the original but this time I made an exception. I received a request to show this image without the rock and trees and so here it is. I decided to also make it black and white, I felt it was a good variation. I must confess that I had hesitated if I should have done it when I made the original version. thumb_1885699.jpg I do apologize if this repetition feels boring to someone. :-) Although I liked the foreground stones as they were, in this B&W version the intense and long shadows didn't work so well and so I'm partially addressing a comment in the previous image. Thanks for watching!

I like it - theere is a different sense of depth and scale with the b&w version. An added sense of isolation/lonliness, too.

Wow. Bleak and lonely looking. Desolation and then some. Strange. Without color it seems more 'REAL' now like a real place. The rock and trees added a softness to it. Weird...rock adding softness! LOLOLOLOLOL ^__^V,, Good work!

This black and white version is very nice, too. I didn't like the foreground stones and I don't like very much this little stone, too : I think the sand texture is excellent, well rendered, and don't need anything else in the foreground...

I love the composition of this. Yes sometimes less is more. It really makes the figure standout all the more. Beautiful render.

Rendering an image in B&W is a true test of how good your image really is, it removes the distraction of color and leaves you with an equally stunning, although different, image. The clouds reflected in the water are more apparent and it pulls your eye along to the figure. Beautiful work, I'm glad you took this little side trip, well worth it!

Great work! I have to admit I prefer the more barren landscape with the black&white.
