Description
This little guy lives in Busch Gardens, I love meerkats they are so cute. I love learning about the animals I photograph. This is what I found out.
Meerkats also called suricates, and are incredibly social creatures. Several families will live together in one colony. They work together to find food and even have some as lookouts. A sharp shrill form one of the lookouts means that everybody needs to run for cover.
Their diets include, but is not limited to insects, lizards, birds, and fruit. They talk to each other by making purring sounds.
A female meerkat will give birth to 2 to 4 babies each year. Raising the babies is a family affair. Everyone pitches in. The father and sibling help teach the babies how to forage for food and play. They also teach them about predators, such as hawks and snakes.
Meerkats are found in South Africa ranging in color from brown to orange. They will live in the wild up to 10 years. However, in captivity they can live to be 15 years old.
I hope you find this interesting and the meerkat cute. I was looking for something special for my 50th post.
While going though my photos of all the different types of animals,we ran this little guy and Dave thought of the Lion King and Timon. Then it popped in there Hakuna Matata it means no worries for the rest of your days. Then I started thinking about all of you and Renderosity and how it became a second home and you became my third family. This photo was the most apt. for the occasion.

This is an awesome shot!! I cannot begin to tell you the amazing change that's come over Cheri these past several weeks. I'm so grateful that she finally came here and has met so many of you. I was pretty sure that this might turn out the way it has for her thus far. She's so incredible with an amazing knack for nabbing really unique opportunities with her camera. I can't even begin to explain to you how much of a difference you all have made in her life. You are indeed her third family and she feels so at home here with you. I owe her too, if it weren't for her posting here, I would not have realized the importance of even just a word or two on someones post, and there were so many times I would just fly through the galleries, most times never saying a word. I promise that, that practice has changed, and realize that something is better than nothing. To see a post with over 200 views and only 4 comments is a tragedy, leaving the artist to sit and wonder what's wrong with their post. I've personally seen this, held her and told her to give it some time, but there are so many new people out there that need the same encouragement. Thank you so much, for you all just being you, I really do love you all!

Comments are so special to me, much better then faves, though those mean a lot as well. I think I just so enjoy reading peoples thoughts on what they see where the faves don't really say what the viewer thought. Now this is easy to comment on, grins, this little one is precious! I used to watch Meerkat Manor on tv. Such personable little critters, so family oriented. A wonderful capture!!
