Description

This is a mallard duck who was visiting the Paine Art Center the same day we did. He was ready for his close up. Although they are quite common here. I thought he was beautiful and worthy of a post. He didn't seem to mind having his picture taken at all. I was able to get pretty close to him. So I give you a duck enjoying the gardens. Sorry I didn't post last night. I was feeling a little burnt out from this last week. Thank you for all the wonderful comments you have left on my previous post. They are most precious to me. Have a great day/night . Thank you for stopping by to look. Your friend always, Cheri

I'll have to take your word for this being a real live duck, because it sure looks like one of those phony ducks that hunters use to entice prey, Cheri. In any event, kudos to the obliging fowl for allowing you to take such a marvelous portrait of it, all decked out in a variety of beautiful colors and textures.

he must be quackers for sitting so still while you took a shot, lucky for him it was a camera. It is a great shot, captured his colours perfectly. You can imagine him thinking 'if I don't move they can't see me...'

I can totally imagine him saying that. Right after I turned to walk away he got up. I have a picture that too, but this one was better. My apologies for anyone who ducked. It was all in fun.

At first I thought it was a decoy, too. This guy sat in the classic pose for you, didn't he? What a charming shot!

She did the same thing to me when we arrived by this pool, which in itself is really cool!. Cheri yells duck, and I almost hit the ground....and them I saw him. This little guy kept getting up and changing position, but finally settled in, and Cheri got this shot. It was quite apparent that he was used to people being near, still, it took a bit for him to get comfortable with her being so close. The pool shot is really cool, but all the pictures have the duck in it. Seeing as how the grounds are his home, and not ours, I didn't feel it would be right to shoo him away, just for a shot of only the pool. I can certainly see why so many thought he might be a decoy, he posed so nicely.

Well captured, Cheri. This duck seems so at ease, or maybe it was resting between feeding times... ;o) Take your time outs when you need to, my friend. Don't feel obliged to post every day or so. Your general health, and the welfare of your family is so much more important than your viewers' expectations. Warm regards, from an unseasonably warm Glasgow ( yes I know it is summer, but that usually means 16C rather than the average for the year of 8C ). The schools don't go on holiday till the end of the month, so that is when our heavy rains normally occur ... ;o) Thanks for posting, John.
