It feels like someone is holding a child, and the child is looking at the human figures in the background. Or someone is holding a loved-one, and the loved one is looking at those human figures in the background. Or perhaps the figures in the background are looking at us, like mysterious souls looming in the shadows. Then, they could be statues on a building (as on a church), and they peer at us from the shadows. Your title asks us to think of many types of "viewing"...but what sings out, above all, is your wonderful use of line & its thickness, your washes, your blue brush-strokes against the blacks & whites & grays. And the sense—common to your work—of human beings etching a place for themselves out of the deep space around them. Powerful & introspective, and always with your deeply expressive line. In my opinion, you're one of our best artists.

i always feel a little embarrassed when a group of people is watching me, but that doesnt mean that i cant deal with it! i can feel the intimate mood it has, yet i'm not sure if the ones in the background know the 2 holding each other in the foreground. there is a tension in this situation, almost intangible and so very well done, ana :))))))
