Description
Again and again I ask, where is everybody?
Captured 5/25/09, at the beautiful Los Angeles National Cemetery in beautiful West Los Angeles, California.
More than 86,000 veterans, going back to the Civil War, are interred there.
A ZOOM would greatly enhance your viewing pleasure.
Third in marching order were a trio of veterans representing an organization that I didn't take note of. Other than being elderly gentlemen wearing berets and toting rifles I know nothing about them. My bad. That oversight happened several times when I was there. If anyone out there recognizes the clothing let us know.
Fourth in marching order were the Boy Scouts of America, which are easy to recognize. For the sake of propriety, the kid on the left should have had his arms hanging by his sides, and not clasping his hands. I know....picky, picky, picky.
BTW, all the little flags planted by the thousands of gravesites at the cemetery were placed there by the Boy and Girl Scouts.
Tallyho.

Harry, I've strained my eyes trying to read whatever it says on the old boys' jackets to no avail. I'm sure you did the same thing. Well, whoever they are, good for them. Let's you and I find that young man's scout leader. Didn't he drill the color guard??? Maybe this chap was a last minute stand-in. Anyway, they all meant well and you've done them proud with another fine collage in your series. Way to go!

all I know is they boy scots that all. cool looking

Those appear to be Springfield rifles - thus they'd have to be an Army Infantry unit or a sniper unit from WW2. As such, they'd be very likely to be a regular Army unit that was sent in early or were a Unit that didn't go overseas. The majority that went overseas were issued with the Garrand M1 and not the Springfield, according to the records I've seen. Nearly went blind trying to make out the jacket and hat badges, but no such luck. Good clear quality shots, good work.

Stellar shots, Harry; I'm struck by how proud everyone seems to be participating, even the boy scouts. I didn't realize that the boy and girl scouts placed the little flags, that's a nice touch. Wish I could help you out on the unit ID, but I know even less about that than about aircraft, if that's possible!

Nice to see the man holding his hand to his heart as the flag passes him. Excellent series.

Our link to the future presented in the past, well done Harry, a truly excellent presentation and arrangement of the special day celebrations.

Looking the faces, full of emotions. Specialy love the guy his hand on his heart. Touchy for sure. Old generation followed by a young, great collage Harry.

more fascinating and respectful photo-montages from you, of people who care enough to march for their people, nation, past, their units (those who were in the service) and for posterity. And again, you're sharing a progression from top to bottom, I picture you with a million photos on your screen (like they used to do with physical photos years back) and screaming "arghhhhh!" as you meticulously piece together this pic with that......I wouldn't know the identity of the upper two groups, but I see from far more knowledgeable people that they don't know either, though Deadly_Earnest has fascinating details about them. But it's heartening, whoever they are, to see these veterans marching, they seem very immersed in the act, very earnest, and bring great pride to what they do. Your capture of the middle flag carrier (of the top two pics) is a wonderful capture, because you have him in such a serious expression, the flag right in the middle of his face: The capture says a world. And the boy scouts are wonderful, and it's great that you pointed out the young man with his hands folded (lol), I was a scout for a short time and I remember how we did that from time to time. And thanks for telling us that it was the scouts who planted the flags, a touching detail. Ggreat too that you captured that guy with his hand on his heart (as GBC points out). Heavy lookin' dude, as we'd say years back, shaved head and major beard: You have an amazing array in this series. It's a great series Harry. I'm going to see more now...
