Description
Captured 5/25/09, at the beautiful Los Angeles National Cemetery in beautiful West Los Angeles, California.
More than 86,000 veterans, going back to the Civil War, are interred there.
A ZOOM would greatly enhance your viewing pleasure.
I have no idea as to the identity of the chaps in the top three photos. Smart uniforms though. The impeccable looking quartet in the top two pictures is apparently of the Asian persuasion.
Difficult to tell, but I believe the troop in the bottom two photos are Girl Scouts, looking rather sullen, besides being out of step with each other, evidently unschooled in the fine art of marching.
BTW, throughout the entire marching ceremony, the crowd was eerily silent, even with many young children and babies present. Apparently, the little ones were also appreciative and fascinated by the solemn ritual. Thank heaven for small favors.
PPS: Hold the phone...thank you Bill/bmac62 for identifying the soldiers shown in the top three pictures. See the fifth comment below for details.
Tallyho.

I'm thinking your right about the girl scouts, troop number 2234 to be exact. They don't look happy to be there. Small troop.

A fine addition to your series; seems like there must have been quite a large number of marchers. The girls do look a bit put out, wonder if they were given no choice about the matter of being there? At any rate, excellent captures.

lol...ooohh, who is that little blondie boy in your avatar? Cute, I might ganna dig up some of mine old picture, this is fun. Okay back to your upload. Different mood here what ever reason. Nice uniform on the gentlemans but seems to me a girls a bit sad or just tied. Cheer up ladies! Great pictures Harry.

Its the solemn-ness that makes these ceremonies so intense and emotional. you've captured the feel of this moment very well with every photo I've seen here.

Harry...chaps in the top two photos are from the Republic of South Korea. I can't think of anybody more proud to friends with America. The third photo is a former or retired airborne or air assault troop from the US Army with lots of overseas stripes and a proud member of the American Legion. Excellent photos all presented in another of your fine collages.

Wonderful collage of images again of these proud American sons and daughters trooping the flags! Well done Harry! :)

another gem; and thanks to Bill for enlightening us about some of the identities. I would know only they're Korean from the lettering & nothing else; and their uniforms are quite striking. Nice detail about their gratitude to America too. The third shot is stunning, Harry, a portrait in deep concentration & devotion. Really fine work. And the girl scouts? They are kind of casual (lol), and it's kind of fun to see—not to show disrespect, because I know they're supposed to have the decorum of the day; but there's something charming about them simply because it's so real. (And maybe they're into it: Maybe they just weren't trained, who knows.) Anyway, by including them, you have yet another slice of life in this wonderful series. And it's nice to know that everyone was so reverent: It wasn't called 'memorial' day for nothing. (I know, it was originally "Decoration Day"; but Memorial—from "to remember"—is very fitting. Indee.d solemn and reverent.) Wonderful.

So, mate? Which conflict did the young girls fight in? Lol. Interesting shots again. Got some shots of the banners? They are colourful and often interesting as well... Rob.
