Description

Thought you might enjoy seeing the latest addition to my rock garden. Since it has a birdhouse theme, we decided to build a giant one, and started with the main house then kept adding little houses and even a tall chimney like house. Then set it atop a funky tree trunk. It sits on a little rocky hill in the front so it can welcome visitors and birds, and also be viewed from the house. The birdhouse has a planter around the base and I planted living flowers inside of it, but I also painted all kinds of flowers growing out of it, so that when the real flowers die in the winter, the painted ones will continued to bloom. A raccoon broke the branch the bird feeder was on and so I had to put in something sturdier. Isn't that the way of life ... if our stuff gets knocked down we just have to build it back up, even stronger. Circle of Light ... Cycle of Life I'm posting this picture today as a tribute to my dear friend, Bella, as a part of the "Circle Of Light" others are posting. Bella recently left Renderosity but her shining light and spirit remains with those she touched with her images, story, and music. My tribute is a kind of "Cycle Of Life", representing the beauty of nature, thriving through all the seasons, and surviving things that knock us down. If we are strong, like Bella, we rebuild, and if we are lucky, we find beautiful and welcoming places and people. Hope you enjoy. CC Please follow the chain. NEXT ARTIST/IMAGE:

whoa Carol, it's really beautiful. Just as a design, it's got wonderful simplicity and charm, I just love how it sits atop that beautiful tree trunk w/ roots; and as a design for birds, it's just loaded with add-ons and little apartments and coach houses (so to speak!); and the way you did this—with some order but also with a sense of freedom and unruliness that befits nature—is charming to the core. I love the bird feeder, I love the rustic tilt of the lamp & the way the little chamber on the left is irregularly built (but only subtly so). You have a real touch, it's pitch perfect. (And you called it "Photography," but really it's 2D or sculpture or design: Photography is just the medium in which you presented it—though the photographs are beautiful in and of themselves. You captured these with beautiful mute lighting and detail...) Then there's the dedication: I couldn't find Bella's gallery—I take it she removed it when she left—and as I went through the circle of images, I was very moved, not only by the images but by the stories. And there's someone else in there, someone I didn't know but who left this earth young apparently. It's all very moving; and what you gave Bella here is a vision of something that seemed to grow by itself (even though you added to it), and a mix of nature with your own love. I can't think of a better image for someone who's moving on. If there's sadness in her move, I wish her peace & fulfillment. And I hope she retains the naturalness & freedom of this design, along with its rustic beauty. I love this; and love that you dedicated it to someone special. All my best to her (and my wishes for the soul of the passed artist...)

I've seen Polish houses like this...they just keep adding onto them whenever someone get married and brings his bride home...they turn into these expansive rambles. I love this take on that theme, and for some reason I just imagined a bunch of birds all moved in and speaking Polish. Sometimes I wonder about me! This is great; I love the colors and the mixed textures and shapes. There's a delicious sense of whimsy here, but also a pronounced elegance, and well...I'm a big fan of art and environment melding into something both useful and gorgeous like this. Superb work!

Oh I love this Carol, and it is just something I would surely do and enjoy doing too or at least what I would have done before my illness. Also as you know my garden is very small these days. I am thinking of adding a number of little bird nesting boxes though onto my new trellis work, all ready for the spring next year. You have inspired me to paint flowers on my plant pots and around the garden when I can, what a great idea for when the winter hits. Thank you for welcoming us to your beautiful garden, hugs Jane xxx
