The Photography Gallery is doing a project called, "Grunge": They're layering textures over photos for "grunge" effects... Well, I---a regular old 2D artist---decided to try my hand! So this is my photo of Palácio da Pena in Sintra, Portugal: grunged by 1 layer per image. Thanks to the wonderful Anaber for giving me the name of the palace!
* * * * * * I've caught up to 1/3 of your galleries now: I'll finish the next 2 nights! A terrific day to all, Mark (Photoshop.)

Mark you really have outdone yourself and your version of Grunge with this image is mind blowing. Like Helle it is so hard to say which one I would prefer as they each have their own unique qualities that really make them stand out. Okay if pushed I really love that second one a lot :)

I couldn't believe it when I saw you in PHOTOGRAPHY!!! But this has your name all over it, I think I wouldn't known anyway. Guess I'm gonna have to jump on the grunge wagon, you guys are havin way too much fun!! I love each of these, love how you always give us so many choices; the last is my fave, of course, both because they're YOUR trademark colors and because, well, I like color, just in case you didn't know!!

Boy, Have I got a lot to learn about grunge. Your three widely varied treatments are all fabulous. I was just reading the purpose/function of a muse. These three muse-like works inspire me to go back and try my hand again. It is all one grand experiment isn't it.

Simply amazing! I can't decide which one I like the best. They are all equally beautiful in their own way, and each one calls out to a different section of my soul. The first is the dark and unknown part, the part that may frighten others, for they can never truly know what to expect. The second calls out to the older part of my soul, the part that contains memories from past lives, both good and bad. It will remain there forever or until I cease to exist. The third calls out to the artistic side of me, which just so happens to be very child like and full of uncontained glee. It is the adventuresome part of me. I must say, however, that if the word grunge is to be used, I can only help to think of it in the definition of "a person who works hard, usually for meager rewards." I can't help but to think that it fits you rather nicely. Cheers

You tried wonderfully,Mark, and you achieved a beautiful resoult.I cannot choose!!...i love all of them in its own.And you know? While look at your images i see the story of a day from the beginning... early morning, the sunset in the evenning.. till the end of night. And the palace as a tale, always beautiful, wrapped and "half dissolved" as in an atmosphere of dream.we can feel something of magic all around.Another great artwork,Mark. My fav. PS:And "Sintra" is so beautiful!!

WOW!! These are awesome .. inspires me to drag out some of my photos and play! It's a good thing I don't have to make a choice as to which I like best, each is totally awesome and presents such a different mood and feel! Many thanks for stopping by and leaving such wonderful and thoughtful comments!!

Sorry, Mark, but I really can't much more to what has already been so eloquently offered in the comments mentioned above. Your initial attempts in the surreal field of grunge appears to have been most successful. Out of the three fine variations, I rather favor No.3. Way to go, my friend!

Very interesting effects! The top one looks like Infra Red, the middle one is antiqued and the bottom one is me looking through bubble-soap, again. Sorry..(you say.. bubble soap, AGAIN?!?) I'm a kid at heart! (And I know nothing about grunge...)

Look at you, playing in the Photography Gallery! :D This is an exciting turn of events, my dear. I love what you've done with each of these versions - spectacular work! Photography, yes. Grunge, yes. But still ... it's ALL Mark! I would never have mistaken this for anyone else's work. Welcome to Photography!

This turned out fantastically. All three images seem so distinct, even though they're the same image. I think I like the second one the most, even though all three are excellent. The second one looks almost like an antique you would find up in some grandmother's attic, in a photo album of pictures from the Old Country, and I expect to see men in top hats strolling around with women holding lacy, fancy umbrellas. The layering work is fantastic.
