Description
Captured 6/29/09, at the beautiful Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden on the beautiful campus of California State University Long Beach in beautiful Long Beach, California.
A ZOOM will exponentially increase your viewing pleasure.
The cool clear water adds another dimension when photographing these beautiful fishies.
Not much of a variety of colors on the koi so far, but the disparate textures should really come to the fore as the population increases following the crippling Koi Herpes Virus disaster.
Tallyho.

Another great collage of Koi. Very refreshing. Dana

They are so lovely; I'm not used to seeing such clean water with fish in it, though. I hope the population recovers quickly. Great shots!

You know Gold fish are koi and if you get them from a ball toss game at a carnival, they get huge! Did you know they can scream? You know those florescent colored fake ceramic coral decorations with holes for smaller fish to swim through? If one gets stuck in it, and you have to fill the kitchen sink with water, rush the giant gold fish in there and try to pull him out without killing him, or hurting him more, he will scream and blood curling scream. His new name became strip and got to the size we had to put him in a 30 gal all by him self! These are great shots. And my fish are swimming happy around a friends pond.

Are these the Koi hoy paloy? Or just the commoners? Just stretching a little play on words. Good shots my friend.

Wonderful captures of these beauties in the clear water of the Japanese Gardens if I remember correctly! They are lovely to view and have this calming effect on most folks! :)

Very nice capture. I love the way you present the images as a series.

Excellent! Impressive work. Fish are TERRIBLY hard to get shots of. You have two grand ones here. The bottom one is REALLY good. Well done, my friend. Rob.

a beautiful montage, and though you'd obviously want more fish there (I did read about the terrible virus in your previous upload), the smaller number does make for a relaxing & 'open' feeling. And nice how you go from single fish to groups, then back to a duo. I like all the shots, I like that you caught one with a whiter fish alongside the redder ones; and I love the patterns on the backs of the red ones: I'd never seen these before and they're almost like prints or designs on their backs. Nice to have all these variations, because we walk away feeling we've gotten a deeper taste of the richness of these creatures. Lovely montage once again, and I always learn things I never knew before when I come here.
