Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

But, perhaps still being on the same road, traveling alongside each other, new insights will be shared.

So interesting, Marilyn! Not sure I could cope with that sort of uncertainty. Beautifully written.

Written like a stream of consciousness. This is very intimate. You've taken us in that stream with you. Reminds me of your white water rafting experience...open to the adventure, hanging on tight, wearing a life jacket and a helmet, known rough spots ahead...but they are a big part of the thrill. And after the rapids there are always spots of calm and shores to rest upon. And you are not up the creek without a paddle anymore :-))) Really expressive and so simply done. Wow.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. My goodness, by the title I thought you were talking about puberty, PMS or menopause. Stellar, insightful prose to go along with another one of your fine captures, Maz!

lol, Harry! Well before I forget, the image is beautiful, worthy of an upload by itself. That aside, the poem is perfect, and I appreciate what you're saying and where it comes from and where it's going. And you say it simply, in your usual short lines, and it ends just where it should. You couldn't have summed things up better. And yes, there are little spirits out there who pick one of us occasionally to see how much they can rewrite & confound all our expectations. (And they're havin' a great time, even if we aren't!) Lovely poem, exact & truthful, and said perfectly. (My favs have no words because the words aren't working right now...just so you know!) Another fav.

I love the stream-of-consciousness, almost song-like cadence of this. I can definitely see you standing up in front of a crowd (preferably around firelight) reciting this, since it has a distinct tone-of-voice quality to it. I love the way you've captured the fickleness of life/fate and everything in between. And it reminds me of something I'd hear by the group Dead Can Dance (my most favorite group ever!!!) Fantastic!
