Description
Captured 7/17/09, around 7 AM, exactly .55 miles/.885 kilometers from my sanctuary.
Feeling I needed a followup to yesterday's glass block posting so as to display size relation, I returned to the scene early this morning with the full intention of taking perhaps about a dozen more shots of the structure. But, as fate would have it, my shutter finger went into an uncontrollable spasm and I ended up with fifty-seven (57) fotos of the partitioned element -- which reminds me of a gigantic ice cube tray -- before I could stop.
Subsequently, since it was captured today, a lot more postwork awaits me on this tour de force, so I'll be periodically posting collages of it as time goes by, ala my koi pics.
Speaking of postwork, with pictures of glass blocks there is usually a fine line between brightness and contrast, so I had/have to be meticulous in my manipulation.
Tallyho and toodles.

Love the varied pov's in your collage .. and yes, they do resemble huge ice cube trays lol

Lovely! The 'light and glass' ala auntietk is delightful, and well presented.

Interesting application for glass block. I see they appear to be fitted and mineral grouted between. Only form I ever used these for was a shower stall where they were divided with clear rubber strips and silicone caulk. Excellent photo set!

I always loved glass block! Great post!

Great collage. I can see why the building draws you in and sets your shutter finger a-clicking. The glasses make a nice accent point on the first picture.

57? lots of choosing to do which should be uploaded. I am not blame you Harry on a shutter action. Sometimes a subject too good to have only a few picture. Very exciting pov on all the pictures here, good job!!

Great POV on all these images Harry! I can imagine that the light and contrast settings can be challenging but you did a stellar job of it. I love how the different play of light is different in each block! Great images! :)

Sorry to take so long to get to this; these are marvelous shots, Harry! I especially like the second and fourth ones (awesome POV in both). The play of light on the glass is captivating!

first, please know that my absence was across the board on RR, but for a handful of artists I hadn't visited in a few weeks. When I can't come online for several days, I feel terrible that I miss all these works, but I always try to catch up in the end. And I see them as they go up regardless—if even for a moment—and this has always been one of my favorite series of yours. Glass blocks are usually pretty pedestrian, but you always manage to bring them to life: The perspectives here are wonderfully varied across the montage. And I can see that you were delicate in your postwork: Between the texture of the 'grouting' (is that what it's called here?) and the walls behind it, and then the undulating changing lights of the glass itself, I can see you have your hands full. The result is subtle and yet bold; and the way you capture them makes them very fresh—something that's hard to achieve, because we see these things everywhere in america and they get very 'old' after awhile. The closeups look like glass which is cracked & broken. Wonderful textures throughout. Amazing how you make these fresh to us. Hope your finger got better!
