Brad Pitt and I share the exact same birthday (month, day, year) outside of that, our stories diverge considerably. Mr. Pitt went on to become an internationally famous superstar, while I have led the much more interesting life of the starving artist. I come from a long line of storytellers (whose gift for gab stretches back through the mists of time to our native Ireland) and professional malcontents who were seemingly born to create something in the arts, be it music, writing, sculpture, painting, or photography. I started writing at age 12 with a screenplay with my cousin Ryan about a planet where everyone looked like Elton John entitled "Don't I Know You?" More screenplays followed, several of which received epic Super-8 production with budgets that sometimes ran up to $10. A few even had sound!  More writing followed: songs, poems, short stories, numerous unfinished novels, etc.. Somewhere in there was an attempt at being a rock star...
Still living at home, at age 22, my father dropped an elderly Nikromatt 35-mm film camera into my lap, in the hopes that I would "make a go of it" as a photojournalist. That didn't happen, but I did develop an abiding love of photography that along with writing and archival work have been among the chief passions of my life. When it comes to my photography, I try to be as creative as possible while at the same time striving for a documentary/archival quality. The only set rules I adhere to, when it comes to making pictures are: 1.) Try not to make the picture blurry, and 2.) Don't drop the camera.

Ah...Sukie...this is a great picture of him. You capture his public face immensely well. The funny thing is, I know exactly where this picture was taken. You should get pictures of THAT place as well, by itself, because, like Sukie's mustache, it has character. As always, great work, and you do people shots very, very well! Great stuff, and as you know, I'm looking forward to your next posts.

Oh gosh ... I just looked him up, read some of his stuff, and giggled my head off! Thanks for the introduction. It really is tough to say anything about someone you know so well. I mean ... you can tell us what they DO, but the whole person ... it's ineffable.

Absolutely fascinating...you have said so much, and show us so much and yet so little that it makes me need to know more. I shall look him up too!

Nice shot, I'm going to take Tara's advice and go searching. As far as what do you say about someone you've known for that long,.......In less than two months, I'm going to be saying goodbye to people I've know like that. I've seen them get married, divorced, have babies, grandchildren. Parents and siblings die,..and a few of their own kids. We've pretty much all run the entire gambit, covered every possible nuance. We haven't been just co workers for a long time, when you can tell by the look on their face, as to how they feel, or know what their thinking, how they will react to pretty much any given situation. Corey,....he might not be blood, but he is family.
