Description

I was standing at my sliding screen door, looking outside. It was somewhere around 3am and all was dark, for the moon and stars were covered with dark clouds. The air was thick with humidity and I could smell the musk within it. I shut my eyes, listening to the distant thunder coming closer. The cool breeze came in through the screen and caressed my neck. The electric pulse called me outside, but I resisted, listening to the warning in my mind of the dangers there were. The lightning struck, lighting up the sky and forest with a bright streak of electricity. Suddenly, the rain came, thick drops, spilling upon the leaves and making it's way down to the Earth. I opened my eyes and the storm came ever nearer. The ligtning struck again, this time gleaming off of the wet leaves in great streaks. This storm was the first of ten I have wittnessed this year, so far. Already, I have had more thunderstorms this year, than the last two years combined. Finally, giving into the call of the storm, I stepped outside. I ignored all of the warnings of danger that my mind could give me, from rapists to being struck by lightning. I danced, the rain and wind harmonizing in a majestic song, the lightning lighting up my stage. Forgive me for not being on for so long. My computer has some problem with it, in which my cable internet no longer works. Oddly enough though, dial up works, but it ties up the phone lines so I don't go online until late at night/early morning. Anyways, I thought that I would start out again with a painting. I dedicate it to everyone in the world. I hope you like my narrative, it's a true story. I enjoy dancing in the rain. In maine we are lucky if we get maybe two or three tunderstorms a year. This year has been magnificent and I am still hoping for more. Cheers, Jess

it's always good to see you paint, Jess...you have real feeling & expression & I hope you keep doing it. The story is terrific (you could post this as writing too), and I know the feeling, coming from the midwest where (unlike Maine) we get thunderstorms up the wazoo! (Does "up the wazoo" really date me???) I know New England doesn't get as many, but wherever you are a thunderstorm's a thunderstorm, and I'm glad you gave into it and danced in the flying raindrops: It's a very primal experience! As for the painting, your sweeping blues are beautiful, and the dark pines are like whispers, with nice yellowish highlighting. Hope you keep that up, you put a lot of expression in it. Fine upload, between image & words. A 'collaboration'. I'm going to the next one now (I've been offline for a week...)

I love what you wrote!Thank you so much for beeing included in your dedication... and "dancing in the rain" is something i understand well..as we were dancing closed with ourself into the purity of nature and with the smell of the earth all around... and as if all the spirits of the forest were dancing with us! And the music is the rain... I love your painting:it has a free style and is very emotional and strong!
