Description
Captured 5/25/09, at the beautiful Los Angeles National Cemetery in beautiful West Los Angeles, California.
More than 86,000 veterans, going back to the Civil War, are interred there.
A ZOOM is strongly recommended.
Bronze monument to Civil War Soldiers, erected in 1942.
Union soldier in fotos #2 & #3 pays homage to those who had served and fallen.

Three fine views. Harry, you've got this collage making figured out:-) We had a period of time here where the headstones were flat with the ground in the VA Cemetery. It didn't last long. All the stones are upright again and have been for some years.

it's really fine that you captured this man standing in a kind of devotion...he's alone & appears both honoring & silenced in front of this statue. Of course he wasn't in that war, but maybe he was in another, or maybe he just knows how enormous the Civil War was, or maybe he had ancestors in that war. Whatever it is, he's casual but thoughtful, a fine combination. And the statue stands out very nicely around all that flat ground, and we get to see the flags this time without anything in their way, and they're small but they're there, and they're dignified and touching, accompanying graves as they do. Sensitive captures here...and nice to see this war quietly represented...
