Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Oh yes indeed - the atmoshere is dreamy... I get a sense from taking something out of the shadow into the light so that healing can take place... Wonderful work Marilyn! :)

Crazy! A few days ago I was talking with a south african guy in the street (he was selling celular phones) after a while he tell me "hey man you must coming from the sea somewhere, I can feel the sea in you! I was mesmerized by that because, yes I did passed my 11 first years of life at belgian sea side...
Coming to your shot, Its in USA but I recognize the place... I mean his equivalent here, I already smell the odor of the sea and the cry of the gulls!!

I love this shot. (Btw, before I go on praising lol, it took me 10 minutes just to find where I left off! And as I look at each anahata.c entry, I see, man, that guy never shuts up! Lol!) Ok, getting back...it's really a shot of a few simple but broad areas: The pillars, the tall grasses, the open field, the sky, and that wonderful old ghost-barn in the background. They're all separate, but you bring them together in a kind of separate but connected shot. Real life stuff, strange bedfellows. And the hazy barn in the background is great foil to the stark pillars up front. Lots going on in a deceptively simple shot. Really love this.
