The Love Affair of Penelope and Gary Opposites do attract, this proves it. Penelope is a stunning brown pelican and Gary a Boat-tailed Grackle, are out on a beach day date. Quietly we sneak up on them to take a listen in on this conversation. Shhh, be very, very quiet. Gary: “Did you do something different with your feathers baby?” Penelope: “Why yes, I wasn’t sure if it even looked good. I mean I thought it did. It won’t be so tight once it relaxes a bit. Well what do you think?” Gary : “I saw the way the gulls were checking you out. You can’t tell me you didn’t notice that.” Penelope: “You have nothing to worry about sweetheart, my heart belongs to you. Although, it was nice to be noticed.” Gary: “They can look all they want as long as they don’t peck. …. Are we still on for tonight?” Penelope: “What did you have in mind? I am not eating in that dumpster behind the Chinese restaurant again.” Gary: “Baby tonight it’s a moonlight shrimp dinner. The humans aren’t catching anything anyway, they’ll have plenty to throw our way. Afterwards I have a nest booked at the fanciest hotel on the beach.
