UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Oh gosh Bill - I'm so ignorant when it comes to these things... it looks like something between a submarine and some airplane... The capture however is superb and I love the treatment! Forgive me... :)

Fantastic capture, I've never seen one before but what a cool looking plane, very nice presentation!!

Good old flying suicide torpedos..... Nice work, isolating the aircraft's image from its very crowded setting and making it into a standalone graphic. Stray thought-- imagine some kit plane builder making modern flying replicas of these things!

The trainers had the landing skid and ballast instead of explosives . . . and the orange paint. Great shot.

Another winner from your extreme makeover series Bill :)

Great Scott, an orange Divine Wind! A one way trip to join one's ancestors, baby! Cool POV and contrast against the dark background, Bill.

Wonderful render of this dangerous suicide plane. Good thing the transport bombers, usually "Bettys" were so vulnerable to USN fighters.

lol on the 'no volunteers needed', though it was no laughing matter to the US & its allies, I'm sure. It was an effective war tactic, hard to beat at first, I know, and terrifying. I wasn't familiar with the Ohka, and how it was carried on other planes (just read the wiki article, thank you!), but it is indeed shaped like a bomb and looks like one. Once again, your silhouetting of these beasts is stunning, your use of pitch black makes them look like a Japanese print, and your filtering is done with real panache. Poster Edges can range from subtle to quite obtrusive (a look one wants sometimes), and you find the subtle range everytime. Breaking a smooth surface into separate 'color areas' can cause havoc, but you manage to keep the areas both subtle and harmonized; and the result is a quiet pastiche of light and variations on a theme (the 'theme' being a color, or family of colors). A quiet, beautiful silhouette, and strangely menacing for all its beauty. Amazing how you transform even a bird of prey into a strangely beautiful thing. Fine work.
