Description
Captured back on 7/16/08, early in the morning, somewhere within walking distance of my dwelling.
Holy mackerel, was it 10/6/2007 when I last posted a dahlia photo? Well, unbelievably, it was. That's almost two years ago! Tempus fugit!
I finally found time to review my older files last night, and came up with oodles of lovely geraniums, roses, and other items of interest, but out of all that competition I found this particular shot to be most fetching, and opted to post it today.
Don't bother viewing full size because this is as big as it gets.
Tallyho, and toodles.

A great shot of a grand flower. My grandmother had Dahlia's every year and they are truly worth growing. Do I get the impression (from angle of the shadows on the petals) that we view this upside down? Very interesting!

Ok, to match your knowledge of songs & puns, I should say Hello, Dahlia Yes hello, Dahlia It's so nice to have you back where you belong... (ok, can't win 'em all...) This is a beautiful capture of a beautiful flower. The top two flowers in particular have a fine balance between detail & softness, and the play between light and shade are beautiful. And your background is kept a deep green, which is a fine foil for the delicate hues of the dahlia. (This is one flower I can actually name, because it's a member of the same family as the chrysanthemum, which I've drawn & painted 8 million times, ie, for their multiple petals and overlays...they're both from the daisy family.) A beautiful shot.
