Description
I am the only one that
got through
The others died wherever
they fell
Give your leaders each a gun
and let them fight
it out themselves
...Henry John Patch
17 June 1898 - 25 July 2009
They buried Harry Patch yesterday. He was the last British veteran of the 'war to end all wars', World War I. For my generation, it was Vietnam. The memorial to that war is in Washington, D.C. This series of images are in honor of Harry and all the men and women who have served and sacrificed. Read Harry's words. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Excellent image and touching words. Ah but iif it were true that it would be the War to end all Wars! but alas, it was not and is not to be. for as long as there is greed, misunderstanding, fear and envy, wars will be fought and people will die.

A fine tribute to them all. Words can never convey what each veteran has sacrificed for us all.

"But the old man would not so, but slew his son, And half the seed of Europe, one by one." (From "The Parable of the Old Man and the Young" by Wilfred Owen) The madness of war seems ever with us. A very fine tribute to those suffer directly the horrors of war. For the leaders and promoters to fight it out...works for me.

Wow, Mark...this is most innovative! Nighttime does cast things in a very different light (no pun intended). We didn't get to the Vietnam Wall at night, so thanks for this special look.
