Description
Captured 5/25/09, at the beautiful Los Angeles National Cemetery in beautiful West Los Angeles, California.
More than 86,000 veterans, going back to the Civil War, are interred there.
A ZOOM is strongly recommended.
This looks like the troops were waiting for orders from headquarters concerning the enemy whereabouts, but actually they were waiting for the speeches on the grandstand to end so they could commence firing their cannons and complete the rituals of the event.
What a hodgepodge of uniforms they wore during the Civil War. Real fashion plates. Can't tell the Yanks from the Rebels without a program. I'm not sure, but I surmise they wore the uniforms of their particular state militia.
And, the Southern Belle appears to exhibit consummate patience through all this.
Tallyho, and toodles.

These folks do take great pride in their wardrobes. In their hobby...the clothes do make both the man and the woman. The southern belle (assuming she not a northern belle) is a true lady in waiting:) Your usual superb photography and editing skills are in evidence...clear, crisp photos nicely displayed sir!

The colors in this series are remarkable. There must be so much to see in a place like Los Angeles.

Great shots, awesome.

Another wonderful addition to your series; these people look a bit more well-fed than the originals probably were... I love their commitment to their hobby. Excellent shots!

This looks quite a bit like the Civil War Reenactment that took place in my Mother's home town a few years ago. We dressed in period clothing and provided music and sometimes sat around waiting... just like this! Love to see the different costumes.

Looks like a touch of fall there with the different colored leaves and the ones that have fallen onto the grass, since when does California have seasons ?? lol Nice work.

The southern belle is indeed patient (in one shot she looks like she's thinking, "can we get on with this thing!" lol). Agree with Bill about your clean crisp photos & photographic & editing skills...another collection of fine, varied shots. I love the music of the casual poses, esp the guy in #1 leaning against the tree, and the cannon guy in #4 leaning back like he's having a great time just watching (either that or he just thought of a great joke). Nice groupings of people enjoying conversation or just looking around (jodie: waiting around), and a nice contrast with some of your other shots in the series where we saw people marching in such solemnity and formation. You got a lot of humanity in this series & this is one of the most relaxed of the bunch. And lol, Lynell: It does look like autumn...is that possible? I really like the feel of these...
