Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Interesting photographic analogy in this picture. This boardwalk with handrails leads to a vanishing point. Your words lead to a vanishing point over your shoulder but the unseen picture ahead of you leads to infinity.

Most profound reflections in this composition, Maz! These are not his exact words, but Satchel Paige once said, "Never look back, because something might be gaining on you."

Excellent work, my friend. This is well done! It's good to look back Not in regret For choices made But in affirmation Of lessons learned If we never look back With new perspective We might miss The whole point

wow, you brought out great responses, even contradictory responses—which is the nature of the journey you write about...shows you did your job! Bill made a great comment on the photo, and it's wind into infinity, and tara wrote a wonderful poem-response (which I agree with) and Andrea sends Edith Piaf to the next universe (& I wouldn't mind if that happened!) (ok, she's good, but she gets on my nerves after a while)...but your poem is simple and to the point and it contains all the contradictions as part of the whole; and no solutions, just revelations. Solutions are too small. Along with your image, it's a fine shapshot of your journey right now...I remember a session with one of our teachers and we were asking big questions about the meaning of life, and when we were done, Doris, an ojibway shaman said, "are you finished?" and we said, "Yes! What are your answers?" And she looked at all of us calmly & said, "I have no clue..." She waited while we gaped at her like "excuuuuuuuse me?" And she said, "take the journey first, then come back..." Fine, true piece, and love that you spurred off a nice mini dialogue here...
