Description

I have a whole series of these ready to lay down on paper, board, canvas, whatever, using markers, gouache, water colours acrylic, whatever. This is yet another left turn from the previous analogue work "Escape". Part of me wanted to know if I could push the marker work from abstract into impressionism. This is actually the third work. I will upload the other two at a later date. The idea of laying down "blobs" of colour then pushing it around using thinners appealed to me. This one further down the development path and has almost left the impressionism realm ... but I honestly do not know where it this is heading. There is another "wavescape" in progress right now, but it is not yet half done. I am at a point where I need to speed up the technique itself but preserve what the technique does. It is taking too long to finish some of these paintings. In order to do the art I want to do, I have to do the art that ... for lack of a better phrase ... art that I can bang out almost like a production line while still maintaining my own ideas of artistic integrity. Do the art that that I have to do in order to do the art that I want to do.

I like the effect of this one, it looks sort of Chinese, or is it Japanese I'm thinking of? anyway, great work.
