Description

Here you can see other roses evading restriction. You can also see the second floor of the Liberty villa. This one and its twin were re-painted 2-3 years ago, so the colors are still bright. This is the strongest hue of the so-called Venetian red, which is typical of my region, together with a strong rosy pink, salmon pink and mustard yellow. The band decorating the highest part of the building represents a battle in the Middle Ages. Painting the exterior of the buildings with scenes is a tradition handed down from the Renaissance. I think it disappeared in the 1920, when middle class houses began to be painted more simply, or covered with grés tiles in the 1950s-1960s. I know about that because my dad sold these tiles (and also those for kitchens and bathrooms).Flavia and me had to give a hand when a truck arrived to unload it. Those boxes were heavy! For those marvelling at the barbed wire, actually thieves are becoming bolder and bolder, especially since Eastern Europe was opened to the free movement of people. They are also very violent. Fencing gardens, with chain fence or beautiful ironwork, however, (but not barricading the property, at least since the Dark Ages!), is an Italian tradition, which is very different from the 'open' gardens of the Anglo-Saxon countries. Thank you for your kind comments.

Beautiful pic for sure Sandra and so sad to hear about the thieves being so bad. With the economy in sad shape I notice even in our rural area crime is up through the roof

One of my favorite gardens when I was growing up, was in a Spanish-style home we had that had a huge walled-in courtyard. From outside, you could look through the scultped iron bars in the white brick into a lush tropical world, and once you walked through the iron gate, you could pick out the pineapples, bananas, bird-of-paradise, and the most amazing array of flowers in every color. It is interesting that barbed wire is used in a stern but friendly way where you are to protect property and hem gardens. Very lovely shot of flowers, wire and wall!

Hummmm. Very sad my Beautiful for these people without scruples which dévalisent just for the pleasure. I believe that the laws are not severe enough. For these imbeciles who don't have no cultures and in any point , and make use of the others to live with their depend. It is an about world filth. And I am so sad for the losses caused by these without values. Escuse me but It is my opinion .MICKEYRONY ((5++)) Hummmm. Pour ces imbéciles qui n'ont aucune cultures et en tout point,et se servent des autres pour vivre à leur dépends . C'est une crasse à peu près mondiale . Very interesting history! Yes thieves and vandals have become mush bolder here too, we just have so many laws and by laws that one has to follow here regarding your property. In some areas you can't even paint your house a color you want to unless you have approval from all those in the community...sometimes laws aren't a great thing...Great shot Sandra, this is a super series again!

But man made thorns. Sad that they are needed. Love how clear and crisp the shot is. Maybe next time you go by this place, you could get a shot of the "band decorating " for us. Dana
