Description

At about 4.00 p.m. (local time):I'm beginning to see a light at the ned of the tunnel of the mess in my room. Unless, after so much effort, I find that I have moved things from here to there, and viceversa. Make the Move! Actually, the fact that I discarded something means that I have room to fill in! Which makes me think of an old film I watched at the TV some days ago: The Leopard (1963) by Luchino Visconti. The Leopard is set in the Sicily of the Kingdom of the Two Siciles in the mid-1800s, just before and during the conquest by Garibaldi for the Kingdom of Savoy (which later became Italy). It's a masterful ode to a Sicilian prince who seeks to preserve his family's aristocratic way of life by marrying off his nephew to the beautiful daughter of a wealthy, boorish merchant. The lush drama culminates with an elaborate and memorable ballroom sequence. One of the main characters is Prince Don Fabrizio of Salina (a stellar Burt Lancaster), who realizes that he must do something, if he wants the House of Salina to remain powerful in a new world that is going to be dominated by the middle class, not the aristocracy. The answer comes to him in the form of his nephew Tancredi (an impossibly handsome Alain Delon), an ally of the new forces, that says that "If we want things to stay as they are, things will have to change". It looks the philosophy of my room, which has a soul of its own! BTW this one is a posterized shot of a school of fish in a small lake in the Adirondacks (NY). They are in the shadow of a small bridge, and are going to the light of the other side of the bridge. Thank you for your kind comments.
