Description

One of the interesting characteristics of the San Diego Naval Training Center was the Spanish Architecture of its central facilities. Built in the days before air condition was common these long covered walkways protected pedestrians from the sun and kept the offices and work spaces on the ground floor a little cooler. I remember this walkway because the second office on the right was where we went upon graduating boot camp to receive our orders and commence our Navy adventures. It is symbolic of the entire boot camp experience - dark, fuzzy and foreboding at first but with a light at the end. Enjoy!
