for some odd reason, this made me think of the Hellboy character standing as if it is a poser - wild.

Very cool work Mandi. It looks a bit like a stylized man wearing a hat and coat with arms outstretched. Of course that's in the eye of the beholder. :-)

I love how he's posed as a scarecrow with a coat designed with what remind me of thunderbird type images. Bold and striking work.

well as always, when I read cathy I get half my comment right out of the box. And btw, I'm adding "Gimpified scribbles" to my list of must-have phrases: I have no idea what I'll do with it, but I love it! Anyway, ditto Cathy: It's a very formalized mechanized scarecrow vision of good ol' John Q Public, but leave it to you to sneak in Native American and other mythic forms to confound the hell out of all of us. I see Mayan too, though Thunderbird will do since he was a pretty fearsome creature (who, incidentally, was defeated by some of the great goddesses of the Native American traditions). Your jigsaw structures reveal faces & other Pre-Columbian shapes, and this person seems almost taken-over by his primal 'other', as if in his agonized 'clone-ness', his mythic source has finally seeped through. And your brownish tomato red—a hue that he no doubt would stay away from—is more primal sources winning the day. So you overtook Mr. JQP with something far prior to him, and made another of your mythic shields, pageants or totems which are far more powerful than the person of your title. Whether you intended that or, better, it's just is how you 'see', you always take your figures to core places. Confounding then wholly right; and a lotta fun too.
