Description

School buses sitting all in a row back at their home base, bus barn, or whatever it's called. A full size view is advisable. Top picture captured 8/29/09, bottom one on 9/4/09, both around 7:30 AM, about 1.25 miles/2.01 kilometers from my redoubtable residence. Foto No.1 taken through a locked chain link gate, which really cramped my POV; No.2 taken with no gate or impediment to affect my POV. Similar fotos of the same subject matter, but taken under different lighting conditions, were posted back on February 10 & 11 of 2007. Ta-ta, and tallyho.

Ah yea, every school aged child parent's hey day the first day of school. School is back in session and no more 'I'm bored there's nothing to do" By the way they don't like to hear "Well, the lawn could use a mow." as a reply. Great shots, and the lighting is great.

They look so innocent when they're sleeping.... :) Excellent shots of the lineup, I wonder how they manage to get them lined up so close to the same invisible starting line?

Great idea and execution Harry! On the 2nd image the light looks a lot warmer... it seems to be either late afternoon or early morning! Well done indeed! :)

Reminds me of my days as a tank platoon leader at Fort Irwin, CA in 1962. Just have to substitute M48-A1 Patton tanks for the school buses:)

Out of shot is a line of drivers all ready to run over to their vehicles in a '1950's Le Mans' style start! Fabulous collage of a kool bus line up.

you know, I'm realizing that though you're a hard-core photographer, you really do have a sense of the abstract, because each of these series you do—with things lined up or presented at different angles, etc—really do explore the elements of abstraction: Ie, sheer line, shape, formation, perspective, etc. These are buses, but you're photographing line & light & even the way light dissolves with each foot into the distance. A fascinating bunch. And the early morning light makes them seem just a little bit like a dream...

Nice shot; Love this point of view, and how they are all lined up so perfect like that. The lighting is perfect.
