Description
Young male "Purple Finch". In early morning light he appears purple. This photo was taken at about 7a.m. In bright, mid-day light the purple appears rose colored.
A month or two ago, male and female "Purple Finches" looked the same as the female that is linked below.

oh the zoom is a different picture: We can really see the purples. And you caught it in a great posture, craning up nobly. Amazing how much detail & color variation there are in birds' wings, isn't it? A beautiful capture, and too bad a bird doesn't come by at different times so you can get that noon shot, and then evening shot, etc. I guess they just aren't into those things, lol...The coloring is really amazing. You caught it really well, Bill. More fine work.

Nice .... sooo very beautiful, all the birds you capture Bill. I think I'm doomed for good bird photography - as long as I have my 4 cats. :|
