Description

It's that time of year again when dragons invade Oshkosh, boats that is. Dave participated this year with his work place in the corporate division. With the exception of the last photo these are from the first race, where they swept it by almost a full boat length. Starting at the top and going from right to left. Top Right - G.E. Oil & Gas Oshkosh make there way to the boat. Top Middle- Moving onto the pier. Top Left - Getting into the boat Second Row Right- Other teams from the race prior crossing the finish line Second row Middle- going to turn around to head to the starting line Second Row Left- Half way point and already a big lead , there boat in the farthest lane away. Third Row Right - Crossing the finish line. Third Row Middle the rest of the teams crossing the finish line. Third Row Left- coming back to the pier. Bottom Right - Pulling it up to the pier. Bottom Middle - celebrating victory at the base camp. Bottom Left - Dave got his all his hair painted for the last race. They won the first race and had a time of 1 minute 21 seconds. The second race they came in second with a time of 1 minute and 19 seconds. They were put in Division 1 and made it to the next round ( kind of like the playoffs) The third race they came in 1 Minute 19 seconds again and second place again. They did not make the last race, but ended up placing 5th which isn't bad at all considering there were professional teams competing too For more information on Dragon Boat Racing Please copy and paste the following link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_boat For more information on this festival please copy and paste the following link. http://www.uwosh.edu/dragonboat/ The races are held every year by the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. There were 40 teams this year. It looked like everybody was having a great time. I'm proud of you sweetie! Love lots, Cheri

WOW!! These are just huge, I'm so glad you have this new program to use. I am so pooped and sore. I pulled a back muscle at work on Tuesday, and the team was concerned I wouldn't be able to compete. Apparently some of them don't really know me all that well. Cheri had almost massaged it out Thursday night, I went into work on Friday feeling a lot better, and then re aggravated it about mid day. Considering that a third of our team had never even been to a practice, we really did well. We pretty much toasted all but the professional teams, and clubs, not bad for a bunch of rookies! Just one race takes so much out of you, giving it everything you have for about a minute and twenty seconds. It was a great day, and I'm so proud of the whole team, we didn't have the talent or experience the other teams had, but we had one thing a lot of the others were lacking,....we had heart!

It looks like a lot of fun! Not for me granted, it's too much like hard work, but fun I'm sure. Congrats to the team for the win, close wins and all around good performance. Good job for you too, Cheri, on all of the photos and the excellent compilation of them. As one who has done a much worse job at matching corners, I say Kudos for this excellent example of how it's done right! Very nice indeed!

Stellar sequence of shots depicting the beloved Dragon Boat Racing, held annually in the otherwise placid community of Oshkosh, WI, Cheri! Love those boats, they resemble something out of a Chinese New Year's Day Parade. And, hate to bring it up because you have other things to contend with, but I haven't seen you around my gallery for a while.

What a collage! I wish I was there! You captured so much of the vibrant fun and life of that day and it's quite spectacular. I love Dave's paint job too...it has a kind of modern tribal look to it which works well. It's funny, I see your stuff now and just think of you spotting wasps and eating really huge ice cream cones.

This looks like a lot of fun! Kind of reminds me of the pirate fest they held ( and probably still do ) in Tampa Bay by Ybor City when I lived in Florida in the late Nineties. The collage is nicely done and seems to tell the story of what looks like a great day out. Very nicely done!
