Description

Mother and daughter. But.. who is the mother?... and who is the daughter? I'll give a few hints to help solve the riddle. #;oD Inspiration for this image comes from japanese and chinese culture. The background and enviroment is a Cararra 7 render with HowieFarkes amazing "World gardens Japan" product. The woman and the bonsai is a Daz render. I have always been fascinated with japanese gardens, and bonsai. And i also worked with bonsai as an art form, for some years. Bonsai and japanese gardens are not really connected... you will usually not find bonsai in japanese gardens. The only thing they have in common is.. that both are living art. And both are extremely beautiful. Since i always talk too much..#;oD.. I might as well talk a bit about, what bonsai is, why i love it, and why it fascinates me a lot. #:o) Bonsai is not a tree... it's an art form. Most trained bonsai trees are only 2-3 feet tall(60-90 centimeters)... no matter if they are 40 years old, or 400 years old. Bonsai means "Tree in a tray or bowl". And it is that simple. Any outdoor tree will do. Juniper, Maple, Apple, Pine, Elm, Azalea.. Some indoor trees will also do... but outdoor trees are the best. A Bonsai is only brought indoor for 24 hours or so, mainly for displaying or exhibition. They can't survive in your house. When we make a 3d render, or any graphical piece of artwork.. it will look the same for the next 100 years.. it won't change. It is different with a bonsai.... because it is alive... a living piece of art. Funny and annoying art to work with and sculpture.. #;oD A bonsai will not accept being dominated by you... #;oD As soon as you have sculptured your bonsai.. cut off some branches and roots, bent some branches, removed some leaves. It will start to change what you have done..#;oD ...It will grow new branches from where you cut. Grow new roots, new leaves.. The real trick is to keep the same shape over 5-50 years. #;oD And of course avoid killing the tree... since too many hard changes at one time will kill it. Bonsai is simple art, and within everyones range. Everyone can make a bonsai within 20 minutes. Youtube have a lot of great videos, teaching you how to do.This little video shows how: Click here to see the process on video This is a great 2 minute video showing how to make a bonsai: Click here to see a 2 minute bonsai creation This video shows a lot of beautiful and old bonsai trees, made by very experienced bonsai artists. Most of these Bonsais are 40-120 years old and only 2 feet(60 centimeters) tall: Click here to see amazing old bonsai trees There are also very famous and historic bonsai trees. Among the oldest bonsai trees alive, and documented for its age, is the amazing "Sandai-Shogun-No Matsu". It is a 5 needle pine tree. Not much taller than 3 feet. It has been alive since the middle ages, and it is still alive. It is more than 500 years old. It is kept in the Tokio Imperial Palace collection. It is a japanese national treasure. The Phoenix bonsai society has a photo of it, and also tell its amazing story here: Click here to see Sandai-Shogun-No Matsu Bonsai art is also a great mean towards stress. It is food for your soul. Because it allows you, to take your thoughts away from anything but the tree. If you have the patience and green fingers...Happy bonsai-ing #:o)

Wonderful work, Lars. The mother has the beautiful smile of pride. Making a bonsai might be fast, but keeping it alive is quite another story. It made me a murderer at a young age. Hehe.

Fantastic work on this scene Lars, if I hadn't read your notes, I would have thought the background was a photo! Awesome serene scene .. Wonderful info on the art of creating Bonsais .. when I have time, I will sit and watch the videos. I've seen some gorgeous Bonsais, and have wondered at the work that goes into creating and maintaining them.

nice info of the bonsai -although i am not a plant guy, wich means i respect the nature ,but concerning all flowers and plants in the house and around ute ghas the green thumb. nevertheless i would say mother is daughter and mother ; and daughter is mother and daughter as well-in the natural way.

She is the mommy of this cuty bonsai boy :) I have a thing for bonsai too, but since Octave tends to want to eat them, I buy little plastic bonsai that are almost as cute as the original , and then Octave chew on...plastic leafs :) Gorgeous render, Lars. One can feel your whole dedication and love to create it.
