Description

(More of the "comic." This thing needs a name!) If you looked at "Blade and Shadow", http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1952280 and wondered where their little brother Dragonfly Hovers is, well, here he is. Standing on a dinky boat on the Inner Pool of the larger Factory Pool. (You'll see the Main Pool later). The base looks ratty from being stripped over the years of it's metal--this side, and the inner pool, isn't visible from the road at all. Blade and Shadow are inside at the top of the ladder, in that black hole high and to the right. Dragonfly's wishing he was in school (partly because old Doris Lindholm snuck him lunch and snacks, even though he wasn't on the school roll at all, his address being "the abandoned Mackay mill".) Shadow let him go to school while Blade was in the county jail, and they hunted and fished and never went into to the abandoned base. But now he's hot, thirsty, working on a sunburn..and there's something in the water.. that isn't some kind of nasty acid, but something with a tail. Much bigger than the boat. ---------- haha, I hated drawing that boat. I suck at perspective anyway, and if I didn't need the boat for later I would throw a stick of dynamite in it and blow it up;) It's supposed to have letters on the side you can see that says NEWTON WYR PATROL on it (yes, the MacKays stole it from the river dock) but I finally gave up and the letters. And yes, there is a rowboat model on Rosity, but it's a lovely 18th century one, intended for a Pyle Pirate and not a kid with a badly-calibrated plasma pistol:) Except for Dragonfly, his hair and his gun, it's all Pshop. There are 40 rungs on that damned ladder, too. And btw if you wondered what Rain's original hair looked like, it was a lot like Dragonfly's. You can see why Dawn wanted to take scissors to it! It might make great padding for a flight helmet, but it's not fun in the summer sun.

This really came out well, Lynn! Really nice looking picture, and I can see the effort that went into painting it.

Love your follow up to your last picture. Great painting technique. I opened this up and kept scrolling... and scrolling... down... down. Love how you did this. Fabulous water, boat and overall setting. And great ladder. Is there some symbolism to the 40 rungs? Knowing you and how detailed your imagination runs, I bet there is. Fun work as always! Keep 'em coming!

this is just excellent work. the water is brilliant. i really admire your patience; mine would have kept me from doing the ladder and boat. have you worked with Illustrator much? i ask because it can help with repeating objects. i like his clothes, too. overall, you've made a great use of texture and shadow. i'm loving this series in general.
