Description

I'm still in southern California (that's beginning to get repetitive, isn't it?? lol) and a few days ago a friend and went to Santa Monica. I got this shot just after sundown. No one was on any of these rides, it might have been closed, I'm not sure. Years ago,when I was a kid, there was another pier not far from this one. There was an amusement park called Pacific Ocean Park** and had a roller coaster at the very end. As you went down that first huge drop, all you could see was water--it was a blast!! POP's been gone for a long time, but this new place sure made for a great foto!! **POP

Oh, I am SO getting on that thing, the roller coaster, I mean...the Ferris Wheel is a bit too...serene, even though it looks great here! Whenever I'm at amusement parks, I kinda go for the rides that make me feel like I'm flying at mach 2 with my hair on fire. That's pure bliss!!! This is very vivid, very clear...just perfect! I love this shot. WOW.

I remember POP! We used to go there when I was a kid, and I remember when it closed...I remember the smell of corn dogs and vomit below the coaster, and seeing lots of sailors on leave...ah, the good old days! LOL! This is a classic shot with a Marilyn sky, beautiful and dreamy and a childhood icon!

There is no stillness...no quiet...quite like that of an amusement park when no one is around. Its like the sounds of the crowd are whisked away on a sudden breeze and all you are left with is the memory. Stellar shot, Marilyn!
