Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

This type of scene makes me ask myself, why don't I live near the ocean? Well done!

I know what you mean Marilyn. The ocean is the first thing I look at when I get up and the last when I go to bed besides my beautiful wife. Great shot

When you were in Chicago, there is this one moment when you were at the lakefront, and it was just you and the lake!!! THAT was a cool scene (and one of the ninja photographers captured it) and I get the impression you were in that zone here, only you had real and non-imported sand nearby...there's a whole vibe to your oceanic shots (Lake Michigan is actually a freshwater sea) which makes me think you must be a reincarnated Ondine or other water elemental, or something. Anyway, enough of my ramble...this is a great shot. I love the action of the waves and the spark of color and contrasting richness in the surfer's flesh. The sea foam is good too...really perfectly caught. He's kinda cute too. Fantastic work!

You know what it is I feel for the water - but I feel that for all bodies of water from the trickle of a small stream to the pounding of the giant ocean breakers. Its a good thing I have such a fascination with water since I also have that same feeling about fire... just in case I get too fascinated with fire, I can always rely on water to temper the situation. LOL Lovely shot and the effect of the frothing waves is wonderful.

ah the sea...what better place?

The love of the ocean is genetic; it's where our earliest ancestors came crawling out of and onto to the land. You can take the individual out of the ocean, but you can't take the ocean out of the individual. But I digress. Stellar shot of the surfer, resting while surveying his grand milieu, before taking it on again.
