Description

These fine photographs are from my Multidimensional Mood Manipulator Matrix (MMMM (c) - don't you just love acronyms?) It all started with Tara's comment on my "Passport photos from hell" and the ensuing correspondence... (slightly edited - the hugs are for each other :o) *********** Tara (auntietk): Oh gosh, everyone complains about their passport photo. This isn't so bad, my friend! You're smiling, you seem relaxed ... and it perfectly captures the way your appearance shifts back and forth (what is it ... every 34 seconds or something?) I wouldn't have known how to take a passport photo of you, but this four-panel approach solves all the problems of capturing "the change," doesn't it? *********** Craig: Sorry to inflict those passport photographs on you - I hope you're not too shaken? I do, however, have a minor bone to pick with you - in your comment you say that I'm looking relaxed and smiling (don't you know the difference between a smile and a grimace?), and you imply that it's easy for me to go through "the change" every 34 seconds, but I must tell you that continuously shifting dimensions is hellishly difficult. PS. I'm thinking of posting some more intergalactic mug shots, just for you - I know you're a connoisseur of fine photography, and my current render is taking literally all day to complete. ********** Tara: Gosh ... I didn't mean to imply that I thought "the change" was easy! It's just that I couldn't remember if it was 34 seconds or 36, and whether that was an average ... well ... you get the idea. Be careful about posting photographs while you're waiting for your other work to render. That's how I got started with the camera, and now that's practically all I do! It's waaaaaaaayy too easy. Hope all is well on the other side of the world... ********** Craig: Well actually, it's hell on the other side of the galaxy (I never know what planet I'm on). These photos are the best way to explain what going through "the change" is all about - I've taken a subset of 4 independent moods and their duplicates in 4 dimensions in the Multidimensional Mood Manipulator Matrix (the MMMM is actually 256x256x256x9D) to illustrate that for each "change", I must carefully correlate the parameters of the current Mood/Dimension Interface (MDI) as well as those of all adjacent cells, then adjust all parameters to ensure complete transition into the corresponding cell in the shift dimension - the equivalent of turning a face on a 256x256x256 Rubic's cube, in 9 dimensions. Then there's the Intellectual Capacity Monitor (ICM), the Dexterity Determinant (DD) and the Sense of Humour Failure Detector (SOHFD), which all have to shift in unison. Any lapse of concentration and I spiral off into a multidimensional mood storm that plays havoc with my productivity (such as it is). And you women wonder why it is that we men can only concentrate on one thing at a time! PS. I bet your camera is a single planet, 2D version... *********** The last word goes to Tara (of course...!) - see her comment below. *********** :o) thumb_1965680.jpg

  • blinks * Oh, NOW you tell me about the camera! Yes, mine is not only a standard 2D single planet job, but it's several years old as well, and not up to a lot of fancy tricks, even on just this one planet. No wonder I've never been able to get a decent portrait shot of you! Here I thought it was due to limited zoom and the curvature of the earth. You've given me so much to think about! The things that occupy men's minds (this actually explains a lot!); the possible effects of MMMM on menopausal women (do they experience a cessation of mood-shift symptoms, or do they just explode?); the availablity (and even the advisability!) of Prozac in nine dimensions; and whether or not I can find a camera like that on the net! I'm beginning to see how you got in trouble with all of this to begin with. Trying to think about all these things at once, I'm starting to feel a shift coming on ...

Hmmm, and I thought you were using a Cranial Collage Creator with the Calibrating Composite Configurator/Compositor. A far superior capturing device imho.

Very creative and interesting. It would seem that your galactic travel takes a big toll on you with having to have so many identity cards. LOL.

LOL This is great, not just the variation in renders which make each and every one of the images different but the overall entire post is priceless. It is nice when we can laugh at ourselves!
