Description
I've finished the paintschemes. There are two Russian and two Finnish. The Finnish ones are actually the same tank as Finns had one captured KV-1E. The green one is the painting that was used before summer 1943 and the three color scheme was used from that on. The latter one isn't historically accurate (pattern), because I couldn't find any reliable (and good enough) source for it. Also, the colors are only "close" estimates for the same reason.
Like with the Finnish Airforce's swastika (in use 1918-1944), the armored troops' swastika didn't have any nazi connections. The swastika painted on tanks was adopted early from the airforce with branch color (black for armored brigade). The origins of the swastika as a Finland's national insignia dates to the time of Finland's civil war in 1918. A Swedish count, Eric von Rosen donated a Thulin D aeroplane to the government's white army and on the plane's wings he had painted a blue swastika on white base as a symbol of luck. This plane virtually started the Finnish Airforce and the symbol painted on it was adopted as a national insignia. And as mentioned, it was also soon adopted as an insignia for armored troops as well.

Oh, I checked if I could make the certain curves smoother, but it would've required re-UV mapping which I didn't want to do anymore at this point. But, as can be seen in this render with same light as in the previous post, but with different AO distribution setting (standard instead of IBL map), the flats are not clearly visible.

Doing some really nice stuff here!!

Klasse Modeling! Nur das Hakenkreuz auf den Panzern gefällt mir überhaupt nicht.

I do understand the negative impact of the swatika, but it was used by Finnish airforce (blue on white) and armored troops (black with white edge) between 1918 - 1944 and was not related to nazism in any way.

Well done. The "crooked cross" was pre-empted by the Nazis. It turns up every where in the world. Great work!

This is an excellent piece of modeling work! Fantastic job!

Excellent texturing and great history. I was thinking if you applied a very light gradient on a displacement map over those areas it might smooth it out - or just a flat displacement map - idk but might be worth a try. Very much enjoyed and understand about the entire - do not want to ever remap an object ever every again lol.

superlative work

You have done an amazing job, the model has the real heavily armoured feel of KV. Also it's very generous to offer it as a freebie.
