Description

Tara and I seem to be doing a lot of the same things---with very different twists. Her latest poem** talks about walking the streets of Chicago on the way to Reza's, a place we'll talk about for a very long time. This shot is exactly what we saw, how it looked, and possibly very close to where we were going. Something very special happened on that trip--the ninjas, the talk, the whole feel of it. It was a meeting of like minds, souls, and I am better for all of it. One of these days I'll have to tell you just how it all came about!! (hint--tara said one night, "We're going to Chicago!!" I said, "Ok!!' And we did!!) Reza's

Vibrant city lights - busy streets and sidewalks... wonderful! I enjoy every little bit of image and writing about the Chicago trip. Between you, Tara and Chip I really feel like I have missed out on so much! Wonderful image and memories for you! :)

Wow, another first-rate Chicago shot and the night setting makes it all the more fascinating. Love the retelling of how you came to make the trip..., "we are,...OK,...we did!" That's it:)

I believe my exact words were, "Pack your bags, woman, we're going to Chicago!" LOL! (If they weren't, they should have been.) :P It was an inspired idea, and I loved every second of our trip. Thank you for this! It brings back that walk, that night ... sigh That was wonderful.

My only real experience with Chicago as an adult and not spent in the airport was not the best. It was spent in the train station. Good heavens. I stepped out on the street and there was no sun. It was blocked by the tallest buildings I've seen since a child in NYC. What little sky I could see, straight up, was gray...the same color as what was under my feet, as the color of the giant buildings and the same color as the air I was breathing. I backed up into the train station again and that was that. I'm very tiny there...like a ant-person. :-)

LOL I am so glad you did. I am so glad I got to meet everyone. It was so cool and it was like we already knew each other and just haven't seen each other in a long time. This is a great shot! Dave and I are talking about coming out there when I am better.

Ooh, talk about synchronicity. I had a realy cool conversation with Babak, a guy from Tehran and I went on (and on) about Persian food...much to his bemusement. The conversation then turned to the topic of stubble. Funny how that goes. Anyway, I've been thinking about Rezas quite a lot...yeah okay...and a waiter there too; you have such good taste in waiters! Anyway...those few days and nights are going to be with me forever, and I'm better for that. This image is perfect because it really does feel like that night: everybody was so vibrant and alive and relaxed, and the city was actually cooperative for once. I remember everyone just chattering away, and how it really did feel as if we've known each other forever, and were just getting together for one of our usual nights out. That was just brilliant. And I know the story of how the trip to Chicago came about! That's what I like the most...the fact that things just happen, and a group of people converge...even some of the ones who were still physically far away were here. WOW. Just plain and simple WOW! What really gets me in this photo is how intense the green lights seem in the distance. You have a real knack for night time photography, and I love seeing Chicago through your eyes and Tara's. It's amazing!
