Description

Captured in the Kruger National Park in South Africa! This is a young Waterbuck bull. In Afrikaans we call it 'Kringgat', which directly translated means Circled-Arse. The reason of course is the target painted on this fellow's backside! Here is some info from the Kruger website: This is a large, robust antelope. Bulls have a shoulder height of 1.4 metres and can weigh up to 260 Kg.. Cows are smaller than bulls. Waterbucks have a brownish–grey shaggy coat. The eyes and nose are patched with white, and there is a white collar under the throat. The rump has a characteristic white ring. The large rounded ears are a prominent feature. Only the bulls have long, forward curved horns. Both sexes emit a, not unpleasant, musky smell which normally lingers at resting sites. Thank you for popping in and for your very valued comments and favs on my "Klipspringer" upload of yesterday! Stay well! Hugs, Carin xx

They certainly do seem to pose for you, Dierbaar! I would talk to them and ask them to turn their heads to face me, but I would probably just get loads of pictures of them laughing at my horrible accent! :P
