Description

Here's Roger (Buffalo1) on our June excursion to Chicago. I felt a little like Al Capone. ...Roger knew his way around the city, so I got to put my car keys in his hand and had the privilege of being driven around mob style...with Rob (debbielove) in the back seat acting as tail gunner. I know, a flight of fancy on my part, but here is Roger masquerading in his own flight of fancy as Craig Breedlove, the driver of the world's fastest car in 1964...the jet engine powered car, Spirit of America, right behind him in the Hall of Transportation in the Museum of Science and Industry. The car ripped across the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah at 526 mph in October 1964. Please ZOOM. Bill:)

What a handsome man! Thanks, Bill. They both look great and I always wanted to be Craig Breedlove when I was a kid. Had loads of fun with you and Rob in June.

Fun shot of a fabulous 'motor car'... "The Bonneville salt flats had seen some strange things But the strangest thing yet was a jet without wings Once as a jet it played in the stars But now on the ground it's the king of our cars Half airplane half auto now famous worldwide The Spirit of America, the name on the side The man who would drive her Craig Breedlove by name A daring young man played a dangerous game With a J-47, a jet for his power Craig Breedlove had averaged four-o-seven per hour Both man and machine had given fair warn They'd set a new record on that warm August morn. Spirit of America" by the Beach Boys.

This is a fun shot...well a fun duo of shots...or a fun shot, repeated...well...whatever it is, it's fun. There's so much personality here, and it's always good to see the people behind the icons, and for some strange reason, there seem to be a lot of Renderosity links to Chicago. I love all of the little details that come out of this...the light on metal, the colors, the fun vibe of the whole thing. This is really great stuff. And it reminds me that I really need to visit the Museum of Science And Industry. I live close to it, believe it or not, so it stands to reason that it would be the last place I see!
