I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

Wonderful capture here, Carin! The movement seems to set the pace for this shot.

Probably, the economy woes have hit them too! Great shot!

They look just like the gulls around here! They don't look South African! LOL Goes to show you that everyone and everything is really just the same all over the world. Love the composition in this. As you know, I do love most of the birds others think of as lesser animals. :-)

WOW! If you're a Star Wars fan, you'd recognize Tattooine immediately...I expect to see Luke Skywalker (all sunburned with 1970s style hair) wandering into this shot. Funny how Tattooine (a fictitious planet) looks like an amalgam of Namibia and Tunisia...without gulls, of course! I love the landscape. It's incredibly alien and vivid, and its an excellent counterpoint to the fast-moving flying stomachs we all recognize as gulls. They're such wonderful birds. As a kid I liked them because they had a habit of dive-bombing kids on Chicago playgrounds. They like fish heads and french fries (chips?). Great, wonderfully evocative work.

Great idea for getting action. They are not big on sharing:)

Ah yes, reminds me of my juvenile "Gull Fishing" days. I used to tie a piece of meat to the end of my fishing rod line and toss it out. Off they would fly with it and talk about fight and complain. No sooner would one drop it than another would grab it, often even before it hit the ground. Hours of fun and no hook needed, just some tough meat hehe
