Blanchard Springs at dusk by lil_sizzler

A photo long in the making for me. All year long we talked about a fall trip to the Ozarks and tried to plan our trip to coincide with the peak of the fall colors. We expected vibrant bright colors instead we got bare naked trees and drab brown leaves on the forest floor. But decided to make the most of the trip. On the day of the planned shoot we knew the gate to the Spring closes at 6pm. But having lost track of time, we arrived at the location later than planned at about 5:15pm. I raced out of the truck with my tripod to setup only to discover that I'd left the plate at the cabin. Peturbed but undaunted I propped my camera on one of the large flat rocks on the bank and shot this photo before we raced out of there at 5:45pm back to the gate with just moments to spare! A lucky shot that will serve as a reminder of a great trip! For more shots from Blanchard Springs please visit Marshall's gallery here.

As I mentioned on one of Marshall's pics I was also here a couple of weeks ago. It is interesting how much difference a couple of weeks can make at this site! In your image the water is so clear and quite a bit lower. When I was there, it was following a week of heavy rains and the water was gushing out of the cave filled with clay-mud. We also were disappointed with the fall colors. Not a good year for this particular zone. The leaves were just turning when the rains beat them off of the trees. We saw a few nice displays but not what we were hoping for. Still... it is a very interesting part of Arkansas. It was my first time to visit there. I will go again!

Well considering all your bad luck it seems that day, you got a gorgeous shot here. Love how you made the most of the situations.

Very nicely done.

Fall hit is late and came very fast. I planned on getting some of our fall colors too but the best is over and the chance is lost. Autumn just blew through fast this year. This is a stellar shot. Great exposure time.

A beautiful capture and the water looks so soft. Don't you hate it when the leaves don't stay on the trees when you plan a trip away.

Since I live about 2 hours south of here I can say that most of the leaves have rotted on the trees because of all the excess rain we have had. We are 6.32 inches short of the alltime most rainfall. Very nice exposure rate on this. Thanks for being in my part of the country!!!

This is gorgeous, and I like the way you both linked the shots so we could easily see them. Thank you much for sharing!!!
