Description

I'm still uploading from last weekend when I went to Big Creak, this is the last animal I saw on the trail. I came up on a couple staring into the woods, they were looking at this Great Blue Heron. As you can see I was not successful in finding a clear view through the woods. He looked at me a couple times but went about his hunting. Hey :) This counts as a bird right? Thanks for the ID help you guys:)

Yep, bummer about the one twig in the way. But still a nice shot. Really great color and light in this one.

I think you have caught him beautifully when he was in the wild. They never stand as you want them do they.

What a beauty, there is a area right out near my house where it is pretty common to see Herons but they are always alone, and you had better be very quite or they are gone.. I love observing them. Great shot.

You should get 2 points for this bird Rob. Love the fall colors and the intensity in the eye. Lots of great comments so maybe 3 points for this outstanding capture. Very well done. Dana

I still find this shot very lovely, because it feels like the bird is captured it its own special place. I like that.

I really like it when the subject is a little hidden, really makes you feel like you have crept up on him and he is oblivious to your presence. Wonderful shot, beautiful light and spot on focus.
