Description

Every Saturday morning, there is a huge street market in Arles, where hundreds of local vendors ply their wares. On one side of the street are food-related items, like the spices in this photo, fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, wines, chocolates, breads, etc. On the other side are everything else imaginable - art, clothing, toys, utensils, you name it. It's packed with people for as far as the eye can see & a whirl of activity & conversation. On this day, my friend & I (he's the one with the purple shirt) bought a baguette, some local varieties of salami (including a very good honey-lavender flavored one), cheese, grapes, & local wine & had a picnic lunch by the river - a great way to start our day...
