This is really a great photograph and looking close you can see tons of color hidden in its scales. Great shot!

Where I grew up, it was considered proper to run over any snake you saw on the road. And we had a lot of them. And people were swerving all over the blacktop to get them. of course, 95% of them were poisonous and we protected our horses, cattle, sheep, kids, dogs and cats...not to mention ourselves and our chicken coops. :-) Now its considered a bad thing to do. Since those open lands and country homes don't exist much in my hometown any more, I suppose the snakes are not such a bit threat. That and we ran so many down back then, we "thinned the herd." LOL You did a great job capturing this one. Getting the tip of the tongue was a real bonus. If you ever apply for a job as a snake crossing guard, I'll be happy to give you a good reference. :-)

Hummmm. Very beautiful specimen. And you are right of to stop the traffic for that it passes. I find that abérant all the anomalous ones killed on the ways. Always a top-of-the-range work. Cheer still and mile mercies ((5++)) Hummmm. Très beau spécimen . Et tu as raison d'arrêter le trafic pour qu'il passe . Je trouve cela abérant touts les animaux tués sur les chemins . Toujours un travail haut de gamme . Bravo encore et mile mercis ((5++))
