Description

A trio of ships has ventured into an active flare-star's orbit, wishing to both explore the exotic solar winds, and study the effects of these powerful surges upon the orbiting planets. ------------ These ships are my newest creations, modeled and rendered in Bryce 6 with mostly my own textures, but a few presets as well. The planet was made in Photoshop with the plugin called "Lunarcell" but then altered a bit. The nebula and starfield also done in Photoshop with a mixture of filters and photos of clouds. All other post work is in Photoshop as well. Thanks for taking a look and enjoy what's left of the weekend!

Nice sci-fi pic! I really like this new ship design, which seems less cylindrical-shaped to me. Great work!

Mad realistic, Michael! These are absolute musts for the zoom view. Just beautiful! And, I totally love the glowing white rim/outline that extends partially around the planet. Wonderful work, my friend..as always. :)

Fantastic model. I like the softness of light and detail the cloud affords the model.

I love the POV. And based on your description, I could imagine these guys getting along rather well with Nemaeans...stopping off at some bizarre, hostile planet to compare notes on exotic stellar phenomenon, while drinking vodka in a bar where the live entertainment has just gone into an intense and rousing balalaika solo. Your ship design is top notch and so realistic. The POV gives them a sense of scale, and the way they're flying in a sort of formation makes the whole thing wonderfully cinematic. All it needs now is a soundtrack by Bear McCreary (he's so much better than anyone at scoring space scenes) and a character played by me, just so I can tell all of my friends: "Hey, look where I am!" I love this.
